The end of the 2014 summer term saw the clubs first ever Freestyle squad competition.
Gymnasts competed in two brand new events, the Freestyle vault and a timed ‘gymkhana’ run. Freestyle vault treats a vault block
as an obstacle which gymnasts ‘speed’, ‘dash’ or ‘kong’ their way over, showing style, technique and ease for marks out of 10.
There are deductions for mistakes and bonus points for ‘double kongs’, somersaults and entry/exit moves added.
Our custom setup ‘gymkhana’ run uses the whole floor area with different level obstacles, blocks and ramps for vaults, rolls
and transitions as well as clear floor space for martial arts inspired moves such as 540 kicks and butterfly twists. Soft padded
walls allowed several of our freestylers to do vertical palm spins and wall flips. Gymnasts are given 60 seconds to showcase
The results ...

2nd Gymkhana: Charlie Leach
3rd Gymkhana: Ollie Gray
1st Freestyle Vault: Luke Campbell
2nd Freestyle Vault: Gus Binnersley

towards our fundraising activities, a final amount will be posted on the website in the coming days...

A hair raising amount of money was donated for "Fell The Forrest" where Forrest Fry, yes you all know him as the gymnast with the big

the Fell The Forrest video for will be on the website shortly...

Premise and Fundraising Update
As most of you will know, the club recently applied to British Gymnastics for funding towards the club's own premises. Unfortunately
on this occasion we were up against many other clubs with very limited funding available and were not able to gain a slice of the
funding at this time. BG's feedback was that we had a great application and the club has all the potential to meet its objectives of
its own home and that they will support us going forwards. There are many other opportunities for funding that we will be applying
for in the coming weeks and months, if anyone is able to support the club with this or knows of funding the club can apply for, then
please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
It is not only funding that will make our own premises successful, we are also seeking sponsorship from local companies
and will need support from tradesmen and volunteers when everything goes ahead. If you or your company are able to help out in any
way please let the club committee know.
With an increased focus on achieving this goal of the clubs own premises, we are setting up a fundraising committee to assist the Club in the application of
grants, identifying sources of funding and organising numerous events throughout the year. We are looking for more volunteers to join
the fundraising committee to help plan and organise fundraising activities, along with a fundraising chairperson to develop and lead
the execution of our fundraising strategy. If you have what it takes to chair this team, are interested in being on the committee or
helping in any way, please email email@example.com
We have plans afoot for all members, families and friends to celebrate our 30th year, with some of our fundraising effort being centred
around this special anniversary. There are already many fundraising initiatives planned over the coming months, so please look out
for them and support as much as possible in any way that you can.
WE REMIND PARENTS THAT IT IS IMPORTANT THAT CHILDREN ARE PICKED UP ON TIME FROM THEIR SESSION. THERE HAVE BEEN
SEVERAL OCCASIONS RECENTLY WHERE PARENTS HAVE BEEN LATE IN COLLECTING THEIR CHILDREN. IT IS A CLEAR REQUIREMENT
OF OUR POLICIES THAT YOUR CHILD SHOULD BE COLLECTED FROM THE GYM ON TIME, COACHES ARE UNABLE TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY
FOR YOUR CHILD OUTSIDE SESSION TIMES.
Please can you ensure any money that comes into the gym for Tickets, badges certificates etc comes in an
envelope with details of what it is for. THANK YOU.
